ALL TERRAIN CABIN AT 2007 HOME DESIGN AND REMODELLING SHOW - August 2, 2007 |
|
Victoria – The All Terrain Cabin (ATC) designed by the BARK Design Collective is appearing for the first time on Vancouver Island at CHBA’s 2007 Home Design and Remodelling Show, Sept 21 – 23, at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. The ATC will support a family of four and a pet in 480 square feet of space with its own supply of water, heat, and power. It can pack up and be moved to virtually any destination. The bedroom floor and outside deck fold up to become side walls and becomes an ordinary shipping container, ready for a truck, train, ship, plane or helicopter. After reaching its destination, the ATC unfolds and deploys readily. In a short time, music is playing on the stereo and dinner is in the oven. The ATC has been a popular attraction at Home Shows in Canada and the United States. The 2007 Home Design and Remodeling Show also features home design and renovation experts: Jane Lockhart, designer, author, and an expert in the world of colour & design. Jane is the host of the successful Colour Confidential on W Network and Get Color! on HGTV US. Shell Busey, host of the HouseSmart and Home Discovery Shows, and one of Canada’s leading experts on home improvement. Additional presentations include a First Time Home Buyers Seminar, Feng Shui, Clear Clutter and Organize and other Home Design related topics. The First Time Home Buyers Seminar will provide information to prospective home purchasers in a variety of areas including new home construction, inspections, mortgages and insurance. “The ATC is a great Canadian design innovation and will appeal to those interested in the latest in self-sufficiency and sustainability, says Steve Copp, Chair of the HomeDesign and Remodeling Show. “Consumers will also enjoy a great line-up of experts offering advice on design and renovation.” The show will contain more than 100 exhibitor booths offering a variety of products and services, including audio/visual systems, floors, roofs, decks, windows, and heating and ventilation.” Consumers can enter to win one of five chances to have “Brunch with Jane Lockhart” courtesy of the Hotel Grand Pacific.
