2008 CARE AWARDS
OF VANCOUVER ISLAND
 

The 2008 Construction Achievements and Renovations of Excellence (CARE) Awards of Vancouver Island is celebrating fifteen years of excellence in the building industry. 

CHBA is proud of its involvement during the past years in a variety of projects with teachers and students in high school carpentry programs.  Students who have become involved with our association have benefited from hands-on skill development.  We want to recognize the CHBA commitment to those learning the carpentry trade. 

At this year's event in October, we will present a deserving student with "the tools of the trade" consisting of carpentry equipment to a value of $500.

Students may apply for the CHBA Student Carpentry Award by completing the enclosed Application Form.  This award is open to students from Vancouver Island secondary schools with a Carpentry Program.

Deadline:  completed applications for this award must be received at the CHBA-Victoria office by Friday, June 27, 2008.

Criteria:

• Registered within the past 12 months in a recognized Carpentry/Woodworking/Career Prep. Program

• Good record of academic achievement

• Documented School or Community Service or Volunteer work

• Each application must have a teacher's comment attached

Winning student and teacher must attend the CARE Awards in the fall of 2008.

2. Please attach information demonstrating current academic standing.

3. Please attach a list of your recent contributions in school and/or community service or volunteer work, and include specific detail.

4. Please attach your carpentry teacher's comments in support of your application for the CARE Awards student prize.

5. Please include two or three electronic photos.

Please note that the successful student (and his/her teacher) will be required to attend the CARE Awards in October to be presented with the CHBA Student Carpentry Award.
