37. 2008 CARE Awards Project of the Year

Criteria
Judges will award points for:

  • liveability of the project

Exterior

  • innovative and functional design solutions to project

  • architectural character

  • access and egress

  • common areas and/or amenities

  • crime prevention through environmental design

  • integration, compatibility and harmony of project into its natural setting

  • innovative response to governmental restraints

  • economic and site restraints

  • effective land use

  • if applicable, target market acceptance (re: length of time on market/confirmed sale)

Interior

  • exciting new features or innovations (eg. smart home technology)

  • careful or innovative detailing

  • unique design solutions

  • creative use of space and functionality of floor plans

  • energy efficiency

  • cost-effective use of appropriate building forms and materials


Renovations or conversions of existing buildings are eligible.

For Condominium Projects: A statement that addresses how the builder/developer has implemented a plan for the project that will prevent or combat problems with water penetration. Addendum 1 must be attached and completed.

The cost of construction per square foot, excluding land cost, must be identified.

In addition to being judged by the above criteria, this award will also be determined by the entry’s accumulation of points by winning either Gold or Silver Awards in previous categories.


Entrants must submit an entry to this category in order to be eligible. 



Requirements

  1. Completed Entry Form. On-line Entry Form and Project Statement or click here to print the .pdf Entry Form to include with your complete submission.

  2. Project Statement – In no more than 200 words, describe the project and explain how it meets the criteria listed above (bullet form is recommended). 

  3. CD or DVD with six digital images of the following:
    -  two images showing context in urban setting, architectural character,
       building/project entry, etc.;
    -  two images showing principal living areas;
    -  two images of your choice.
     **If a renovation, two extra “before” images may be included, for a total of
    eight images.  Images must be clearly named and numbered “Before” and “After”.

  4. One 8”x10” colour photo print of front elevation.
    **If renovation: one 5”x7” (before) and one 8”x10” (after) colour photo print of the same area.

  5. One copy of floor plan on 8 ½” x 11” paper.

  6. One copy of site plan on 8 ½” x 11” paper.

  7. Three copies of the brochure and price list, if applicable.

Optional: Entrant may choose to submit a three minute video tour of the project, including interior and exterior views.
