New houses are built to be more energy efficient, which requires a greater understanding of physics, and the house as a properly functioning system.
To address this, the "BEST" (Building Envelope Solutions Theory) Practice course has been developed by the Canadian Home Builders' Association of BC, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporations and the Homeowner Protection Office. BEST Practice provides the skills and training for building in BC's unique, west coast climate.
Participants learn the latest techniques in building envelope moisture control, and identify methods and products to prevent rain penetration of roofs, decks, doors, windows and other potential leakage areas. BEST Practice is a must for contractors, builders, architects, designers, tradespersons, inspectors, suppliers, and the general public interested in the latest building envelope science.
