Members are advised of the intent to hold the 2007 Annual General Meeting for the purpose of transacting the following business: 

1) Approving the Annual Financial Statement for the 2006 - 2007 fiscal year;
2) Any resolutions that may be placed before the meeting shall be considered and dealt with;
3) Any other business, either special or general, may be considered and transacted by the     members without notice here at such meeting.
4) Proposed amendments to CHBA-Victoria's Bylaws pertaining to the number of General     Meetings and Board Meetings.
5) Proposed amendment to CHBA-Victoria's Bylaws pertaining to the qualifications and     professional designations of the Treasurer. 

This notice is issued in accordance with the BC Society Act, which requires that a society must give not less than 14 days written notice of a general meeting.

Great bargains were found and attendees enjoyed a great evening at the 1st Annual CHBA-Victoria Suppliers Auction Wednesday, October 10 at the Ambrosia Catering Centre. Thank you to the Supplier’s Council, the generous supplier donations and to everyone who attended and purchased items. Proceeds from the auction will go to the “CHBA – Victoria Trade Scholarship Fund.”

CHBA-Victoria’s hockey team has started their season! They could still use a couple of players to round out the team. The games are in the evenings at approximately 10:20 pm and the cost is $500 for the season. If you would like to play, contact Casey at 383-5044.

On August 10, Members of the Canadian Home Builders Association - Victoria gathered with representatives from Habitat for Humanity, Province of British Columbia, and the District of Saanich to break ground on the Flex-Plex Housing Affordability Project on Bethune.

The project was initiated in 2001/2002, after exploratory discussions between Saanich and CHBA-Victoria. In 2002, CHBA-Victoria applied for, and received, a grant from the Affordability and Choice Today (ACT) Program, to help launch the initiative. The association then approached BC Housing to secure the land, and partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help develop the project and identify families with limited incomes.

It’s that time again – CHBA – Victoria is a Bronze Sponsor of the 2007/2008 Festival of Trees being held at the Fairmont Empress Hotel from November 20 – January 7! This event is in aid of the BC Children’s Hospital.

Our “tree team” has been the recipient of the “People’s Choice Award” for two years in a row and they will be going for #3!

As in the last 5 years, we will be selling space on the tree to raise funds for the cause. Watch your email and plan to donate at the November General Meeting. Your donation will help the kids and advertise your company at the same time – a double benefit!

Another great fall home show was held September 21 - 23 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.  The 2007 Home Design and Remodelling Show was full of great features such as the All Terrain Cabin (ATC), Jane Lockhart, and Shell Busey. It was a weekend of presentations and inquisitive crowds.
