UPDATE ON SEISMIC CHANGES TO THE 2010 BUILDING CODE

We have been successful in getting the National Code Council to review their seismic design proposals for Part 9 of the 2010 Building Code.

Their proposals would restrict openings to 25 ft and eliminate the Great Room and other design features popular with consumers, without approval from an engineer. The Code Committee is coming to Victoria from Feb 15 – 17 to discuss alternative solutions that will accommodate West Coast design and affordability, while maximizing safety in an earthquake.

Ron Egli, CHBA-Victoria Builder Council Chair and CHBA-BC TAC Chair, is taking the lead on this initiative, working with Linden Holmen, Steve Copp, Bill Patterson, Gordon English, Bob Gill and David Mann.

Why not advertise your inventory of new homes for sale at no charge?

We will create a link for "New Homes for Sale Built by CHBA - Victoria Members" which will be on our home page. By clicking on this link, consumers will be taken to a new page with a list of builders and their current list of houses for sale.

You will need to provide: a very brief description as well as a link to a website where your house is posted (you may need to ask your realtor for a link to the website).

You can list as many homes as you have available but you will also have to let us know when they sell so we can keep the website current.
