CHBA-Victoria’s Annual General Meeting to swear-in the new
board and vote on a Bylaw Amendment.
6:00 pm – Reception
6:40 pm – Annual Financial Statement, Bylaw Amendment, and
Board Swearing-In
7:00 pm - Dinner
8:00 pm – Guest Speaker – Elizabeth May, Leader of the
National Green Party
The bylaw amendment is under ARTICLE XII - Nominations and
Elections, 4. (d) where the Board is proposing a change in the
month for annual elections – from June to September. This will
enable CHBA to hold the Golf Tournament in June and take
advantage of better weather. The existing bylaw says
4. Procedure - The procedure to be followed by the Nominating
Committee shall be as follows:
(d) Additional nominations may be made by members from
the floor at the Election Meeting, which shall be the meeting
dedicated to the election of officers, and which will take
place in June of each year.
(Suggested Amendment: replace June with September)

CMHC’S THIRD ANNUAL HOUSING OUTLOOK CONFERENCE |

CMHC’s Third Annual Housing Outlook Conference
is November 20, 8:30 am to 12 noon at the Hotel Grand Pacific.
Speakers include Lee King, Carol Frketich and
Travis Archibald – each is an expert in the local and BC

STATE OF THE ISLAND ECONOMIC SUMMIT |
|

The Third Annual State of the Island Economic Summit is
being held November 24 and 25 at the Victoria Conference
Centre.
The cost is $200 for Vancouver Economic Alliance members and
$250 for non-members.
Presenters include Paul Darby, Deputy Chief Economist,
Conference Board of Canada, and Rick Jefferey, CEO and
President of Coast Forest Products. Maureen Young,
Coast Capital Savings is Summit Co-Chair and Moderator.

celebration at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. A record number of
projects were awarded top honours at the 2009 Construction
Achievements and Renovations of Excellence (CARE) Awards and
the new CARE Awards trophy was unveiled!

On September 18 in Whistler CHBA BC recognized members who have made
a significant contribution to the housing industry and to CHBA BC.
Ron Egli,
was presented with the Beaver Award for builder member of the year
recognizes an individual who has served a number of years at the
provincial level, has served on various committees, who has personal
activities within the association and has received other awards for
community involvement.
AND
CHBA – Victoria
took home the ‘Association of the Year”. A great reflection on our
members!
