  ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF TREES

 

A special thank you to our Festival of Trees Committee – Elaine Piluso, Cheryl Neal, Margaret Dale, and Lenore English for representing us at the Festival of Trees and decorating an outstanding tree to support the BC Children’s Hospital. You can see the ladies and our tree on CH television ads being aired through the holiday season.

  BEST PRACTICE COURSE

 

The Building Envelope Solutions Theory and Practice course is being held again at Camosun College. This series of workshops will be of interest to contractors, builders, architects, designers, tradespersons, inspectors, and anyone interested in increasing their knowledge of building science. Participants successfully completing the final open book exam and attending

at least six of the seven Saturdays, will receive a Confirmation of Successful Completion. Course materials and lunch are included in course fee.

  QUAD SCHOOL DISTRICTS LOOKING FOR MATERIALS

 

Greater Victoria has 8 carpentry programs supporting secondary school student transition to the construction industry. These require resources to provide students with appropriate training. The high schools are seeking our members' support and donations to ensure that the programs can provide training for skilled trades.

  CHRISTMAS IN VEGAS – HUGE SUCCESS!!

 

CHBA-Victoria's "Xmas in Vegas" party, featuring a casino, auction, and entertainer Nearly Neil was a big success. The evening ended with a crowded dance floor and a great deal of fun had by all! CHBA members raised a whopping $5,000 for Santa's Anonymous. Listen to CFAX radio at 2:00 pm, today, Friday, Dec. 15, when Gordon English, President, CHBA-Victoria will present the cheque. 

A special thanks to Peter Baillie, Martin Olivier, Diana Stefaniec, Kim Tapping, Saskia Elias, and the rest of the Times Colonist gang for donating a full colour, full page ad which helped boost the donation. 

In addition, $2,000 was raised through an auction to develop the GVCSC's Connect software program, connecting students with industry for work experience and apprenticeships. Also, special thanks to Marian Paris at Shaw, and Rodd McCormick, Island Displays for arranging and managing this very successful auction.
