OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & FEATURED SPEAKER |

Members are advised of the intent to hold the 2006 Annual
General Meeting for the purpose of transacting the following
business:
1) Approving the Annual Financial Statement for the 2005 - 2006
fiscal year;
2) Any resolutions that may be placed before the meeting shall
be considered and dealt with;
3) Any other business, either special or general, may be
considered and transacted by the members without notice here at
such meeting.
This notice is issued in accordance with the BC Society Act,
which requires that a society must give not less than 14 days
written notice of a general meeting.

MIRM, Real Estate Broker, speaking on the U.S. Housing Market -
where it has been, where it's going, and the potential impact on
the Canadian market. He is president of Coldwell Banker Wachholz
and Company in Kalispell, Montana, manages eight real estate
offices, and has delivered many outstanding presentations at
CHBA-BC's Housing Conferences. Tom Burk is also a member of the
National Association of Home Builders in the U.S. and a judge of
CHBA-BC's Georgie Awards.

2006 CARE AWARDS |
|
|
|
Congratulations to Coastal Construction and their “Tofino
Oceanside Retreat” for capturing four Gold CARE Awards,
including the prestigious Project of the Year at the 2006 CARE
Awards held September 23 at the Fairmont Empress Hotel.
Approximately 280 builders, trades, and suppliers attended the
gala event.
Other big winners were The Città Group, Pacific Concept
Developments Ltd., and Limona Construction Ltd., each winning
three Gold CARE Awards. The fourth annual People’s Choice Award
went to Road’sEnd Contracting Ltd. for “Oldfield Farm” project,
which was displayed during the summer with other Silver
Finalists in various locations in Victoria and Nanaimo. CHBA’s
Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Bob Whelan, Whelan
Construction Ltd., in recognition of his professionalism and his
long-term contribution to the community and the association. Bob
also won two Gold CARE Awards at the event.

CHBA-Victoria’s first Fall Home Show at the Save-On-Foods
Memorial Centre was a big success thanks to the efforts of our
volunteers, exhibitors and featured speakers. HGTV’s Steven
Sabados, Chris Hyndman, and Peter Fallico proved to be very
popular with the audience, as were presentations by CHBA members
KB Design and Gardiner-Creed Designs.

PLAN EVALUATION WORKSHOP – November 13-15 |
|
|
|
This workshop provides training on the use of the HOT2000
software that is used to model house plans within the EnerGuide,
Built Green™ BC & R-2000 programs. Plan evaluators perform
HOT2000 energy analysis of house plans and play a key role in
the quality assurance process for labelling of homes.
Requirements for participants: demonstrated understanding of
building science and construction practice; understanding of
residential mechanical systems; access to and familiarity with
computer capable of running the latest version of HOT2000
software, which will be provided to you at the course.
Condensed Certified Energy Advisor Training Workshop (one-day
instruction, November 22nd)
This is a condensed workshop for current EGH Energy Advisors to
become qualified to work with builders wishing to label their
new houses. It will provide an introduction to EnerGuide for New
Houses (EGNH), and operational procedures, especially the
variance from the EnerGuide for Existing Houses program.
